Harbat - development

To edit or add sites, you need to log in.

Mecca is an eclectic place, somewhere between the dark ages and the 18th century. There is a city in Mecca, named Harbat, located on an island. It rains a lot in Harbat. Harbat looks a lot like a mediaval town, but on the other hand has factories and eastern bazaars as well. Harbat is home to a lot of secrets, divided among its residents.

The name Harbat refers to the old-english "Har" (hoary =3D covered with grayish hair, and also: har! har! har!), and "Bat" (boat). Harbat refers to Tolkien's pirate city Tharbad as well.

For anyone developing storylines, in Harbat or elsewhere, please read all the related links below. These threads contain essential information concerning the look and feel of Mecca. Refer to Mecca - Sleepy Hollow for a quick summary of the atmosphere in Mecca in general. If you add new sites to Harbat, keep them in a mood of Subtlety and Dark Fantasy. Refer to Mecca - Story Themes, Mecca - The Forking Path, Mecca - Hive Mind Society, Mecca - Faith as a surrogate for creativity for essential concepts and dynamics in the world of Mecca.

Read Storytelling guidelines for a short list of pointers on how to build a story, and Morberg and Torth as examples of existing stories.
